Maj. Gen. John C. Harris Jr., Ohio adjutant general, speaks during a memorialization ceremony for the 1st Lt. James Gregory Miller Armory in Newark, Ohio, July 13, 2023. Miller, a native of Newark, enlisted in the Ohio National Guard at the armory in 1964 and was later killed in action in Vietnam while serving on active duty. The ceremony also marked the completion of $1.73 million in improvements to the nearly 70-year-old facility.
