230320-N-NT811-1003 Pacific Ocean - (March 20, 2023) –Lt. Hayden Marsh (right), a Weapons Tactics Instructor (WTI) works with Chief Interior Communications Electrician Kemmia Flanagan at the Combat Systems Coordinator console in the Combat Information Center onboard the USS Sterett (DDG 104) during an air warfare exercise as part of surface warfare advanced tactical training (SWATT). In background is Lt. Cmdr. Amanda English, Tactical Action Officer who is the Sterett’s chief engineer and also a WTI now on her department head tour.
SWATT is the Navy’s premier advanced tactical training even for the surface fleet to ensure units are competent, proficient and ready to deploy forward. The intense multi-week training event is given under the guidance of Naval Surface and Mine Warfare Development Center (SMWDC).
