230323-N-NT811-1002 Pacific Ocean - (March 23, 2023) – The littoral combat ships USS Kansas City (LCS 22) (l) and Gabrielle Giffords (LCS 10) (r) prepare to make a turn to port as part of a column with four other vessels conducting a simulated straits transit. The guided-missile destroyer USS Hopper (DDG 70) (center) has already executed the turn. The ships were underway in the 3rd Fleet area of operations conducting surface warfare advanced tactical training (SWATT).
SWATT is the Navy’s premier advanced tactical training for the surface fleet to ensure units are competent, proficient and across all warfighting domains. The intense multi-week training event is given under the guidance of Naval Surface and Mine Warfare Development Center (SMWDC).
