This #FortRileyFriday we continue our look at buildings that originally served to support activities on the old Artillery Post.
Building 386 Dickman Avenue was built in 1908. It was originally designated as Artillery Stables. It was constructed with #limestone walls and foundation, clay and brick flooring and a slate roof. It had a capacity of 136 horses.
#FortRiley Directorate of Public Works (DPW) maintenance documents show that by 1930 building 386 had been redesignated as Cavalry Stables after the Artillery School at Fort Riley was discontinued following World War I.
Today, 386 Dickman Avenue is home to the General Services Administration (GSA) Maintenance Shop where maintenance is performed on government owned vehicles. It is also home to the GSA Fleet Management Center.
