This #FortRileyFriday we continue our look at buildings that originallyserved to support activities on the old Artillery Post.
Building 387 Carr Avenue was built in 1907. It was originally designated as an Artillery Gun Shed. It was constructed with #limestone walls and foundation, a concrete and wood floor, and a slate roof.
Directorate of Public Works (DPW) maintenance documents show that by 1930 building 387 had been redesignated as a Cavalry Gun Shed after the Artillery School at Fort Riley was discontinued following World War I.
Today, 387 Carr Ave. is home to the 2218th, 2219th and 2220th Mobilization and Support Battalions of the U.S. Army Reserve. A unique feature of the facility is the metal representation of the Army seal between the windows of the second floor.
