Tyler Hutton, Chief of Maintenance at Lower Monumental Lock and Dam shows LTC KingSlack, Commander of the Walla Walla District a design drawing of the fish pumps and hydropower turbines. The fish pumps are turbine driven water supply pumps that take fish attraction water from the tailrace (downstream) and discharge it into the fish ladders (upstream) to help attract adult fish into the fish ladders for upstream migration. They are important to help fish navigate by supplying downstream attraction water into their path to navigate and maintaining fish ladder differentials as required by the Fish Passage Plan (FPOM).
