Wasmund, commanding general of U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), salutes Mauritania Armed Forces soldiers during a visit to Nouakchott, Mauritania, Jan. 24, 2024. Wasmund met with Mauritanian Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. El Mokhtar Bolle Chaabane to discuss current defense cooperation and opportunities for additional partnerships between the U.S. Army and the Mauritania Armed Forces.
