Norwegian Army’s Froya sign hangs above the entrance doors of the base gym at Bardufoss, Norway, Feb. 27, 2024. Froya is the new name for the gym after the old norse goddess Freyja, the goddess of love and fertility. The re-opening ceremony for the gym comes with new equipment and an enhanced facility for allies and partners to use. The ability to host forces is a part of a NATO agreement to stay functional and enable following forces to continue training for the NATO exercise Nordic Response 24. Nordic Response is a Norwegian national readiness and defense exercise designed to enhance military capabilities and allied cooperation in high-intensity warfighting in a challenging arctic environment.
