Raymond Quintavell, resident of the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home at Paramus, New Jersey, is one of the 10 residents at the Home who recently marked their 100th, and in one case, 105th birthday, Feb. 29, 2024. During World War II, Quintavell enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater as a Chief Motor Machinist's Mate and later as a Chief Petty Officer on USS LCI (L) 457 Landing Craft Infantry, LCI Flotilla Three. During his service, Quintavell was recognized for outstanding heroism in support of amphibious landings in the Southwest Pacific, including the Battle of Saipan. The four men and six women each received a signed letter and coin from Maj. Gen. Lisa J. Hou, D.O., The Adjutant General of New Jersey, as well as certificates of commendation from Bergen County and the Bergen County Board of Commissioners. (New Jersey National Guard photo by Mark C.
