240326-N-EV253-1011 SAN DIEGO, Calif. (March 25, 2024) – US Naval Aircrewman 3rd Class Andrew Janvrin, from Yukon, Oklahoma, and assigned to the “Merlins” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 3, poses for a photograph in front of the flight line at Naval Air Station North Island. Less than one month after Janvrin earned his “Wings of Gold,” during a Fleet Replacement Aircrewman (FRAC) graduation ceremony, he assisted in a rescue effort on March 23 on Glamis Dunes in Imperial County, CA. During the event, Janvrin, along with Fleet Replacement Instructor pilots Lt. Caleb Herrick and Lt. Brian Kennedy, had been conducting routine flight operations in the area when they observed an unconscious civilian next to an all-terrain vehicle, and provided on-scene medical care before assisting with hand-off to Reach Air Medical Services. HSC-3 is the Navy’s West Coast MH-60S FRS, responsible for training pilots and aircrewmen by providing the most capable warfighters to the Fleet.
