Personnel assigned to U.S. Special Operations Command Korea climb up an obstacle during the Best Directorate Competition 2024 held at Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea, May 2, 2024. The competition consisted of cognitive tests, obstacle courses, and interview questions, enhancing comradery and soldiership of SOCKOR personnel. The competition also coincided with the 35th anniversary commemoration of the establishment of SOCKOR as a theater special operations command. The ROK and U.S have maintained a consistent special operations relationship since the outbreak of the Korean war in 1950 and have maintained a credible deterrence posture since the signing of the Armistice in 1953.
