Staff Sgt. Nicholas Carone, 100th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, monitors the lifting of a KC-135 Stratotanker on hydraulic jacks Feb. 5, 2013, at an air base in southwest Europe. Carone communicated via hand signals to the team of maintainers operating the jacks. Jacks allow maintainers to conduct tests involving raising and lowering the aircraft's landing gear. Airmen from RAF Mildenhall, England, deployed to southwest Europe in January to support French operations in Mali. Carone is from Elk Grove, Calif. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Austin M. May)
