    Brig. Gen. Bill A. Soliz becomes the armed forces’ first general who is an active-duty physician assistant on May 11, 2024, in Honolulu, Hawaii, as his daughters pin on his star. Soliz was promoted by Lt. Gen. Mary K. Izaguirre, the U.S. Army Surgeon General, far left. His daughters are Army Staff Sgt. Jaline Soliz, left, and Air Force Staff Sgt. Nalani Soliz. He is the commanding general of Medical Readiness Command, Pacific, and oversees nearly 4,000 Soldiers and 400 civilians in MRC, P and provides regionally ready, globally responsive medical forces, health service support, and force health protection across the region. He is also the director of Defense Health Network Indo-Pacific and oversees a joint, integrated health network with Army, Navy and Air Force personnel that provide quality care in medical facilities in Washington, California, Hawaii, Japan and the Republic of Korea.
