U.S. Navy Capt. Ian Scaliatine, commanding officer of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, USS Arlington (LPD 24) and U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Karsten S. Heckl, commanding general of Combat Development Command and Deputy Commandant of Combat Development and Integration on a tour of the USS Arlington in a Norfolk Va., shipyard, discuss procedures in place to enable proficient upgrades, and to increase the ship's capability and modernization, May 14, 2024. The Navy-Marine corps team is working together to increase maritime readiness and increase the capabilities of the Amphibious Warfare Ship fleet. Heckl's visit to the shipyard was to gain more understanding about how the Marine Corps can better assist the Navy and industry leaders modernizing amphibious ships.
