Vice Adm. Doug Perry, commander, U.S. 2nd Fleet, recognizes Culinary Specialist 1st Class Brandon Guinto aboard the USS Bataan (LHD 5) during Fleet Week New York, May 24, 2024, for his leadership of the culinary specialist team on a daily basis and the "Superfood Breakfast" event. The presentation took place during the "Superfood Breakfast" event held in the Bataan’s mess decks, where avocados from Peru were used to prepare a meal for the crew. Fleet Week New York 2024, taking place May 22-28, marks the 36th year of the city's celebration of the sea services. Approximately 2,300 Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guard personnel are participating.
