NAVAL STATION NORFOLK, Va. (May 22, 2024) Sailors assigned to the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21), and Marines with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC), man New York’s rails as the ship departs for deployment, May 22, 2024. Sailors and Marines man the rails as a naval tradition when a ship is entering or leaving its home port. New York is underway in the Atlantic Ocean as part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (WSP ARG)-24th MEU (SOC) in support of U.S. and Allied economic, security, and defense interests.
