ATLANTIC OCEAN (May 22, 2024) Landing Craft, Air Cushion 87 (LCAC), with Beach Assault Unit 21, enters the well deck of the San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock USS New York (LPD 21) as the ship departs for deployment, May 22, 2024. LCACs are amphibious transport craft used to transport personnel and equipment between ship and shore. New York is underway in the Atlantic Ocean as part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group (WSP ARG)-24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC) in support of U.S. and Allied economic, security, and defense interests.
