Dr. Rory Cooper, back to camera, the founding director and Veterans Affairs senior research career scientist of the Human Engineering Research Laboratories, a Veterans Affairs Research and Development Center of Excellence in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh, explains the process of creating the prototype of a miniature golf putter and a pool stick for disabled veterans, so that they can participate in hobbies and activities. Cooper explained the items to U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Michael Wegscheider, the commander of the 28th Infantry Division, while U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class. Nicole Brittain with Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, 28th Infantry Division holds the miniature golf club and U.S. Army Capt. Christi Cook, also with the headquarters battalion holds the pool stick, June 20, 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pa. Division leaders toured the facility to learn about innovations that improve quality of life for wounded warriors. The tour is part of the 28th Infantry Division Innovation Program which seeks the input of Soldiers to identify areas of improvement at all levels in products, processes, and procedures.
