Dr. Rory Cooper, the founding director and Veterans Affairs senior research career scientist of the Human Engineering Research Laboratories, a Veterans Affairs Research and Development Center of Excellence in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh, shows U.S. Army Soldiers a prototype wheelchair that is made from a single sheet of metal, making it easier to ship in bulk to various locations globally, June 20, 2024, in Pittsburgh Pa. Division leaders toured the facility to learn about innovations that improve quality of life for wounded warriors. The tour is part of the 28th Infantry Division Innovation Program which seeks the input of Soldiers to identify areas of improvement at all levels in products, processes, and procedures.
