HALAWA, Hawaii (June 28, 2024) Sludge cleaned from fuel tank 8 by Navy Closure Task Force-Red Hill (NCTF-RH) contractors sits in a 55-gallon drum before being transported to a secure holding area at the Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Facility (RHBFSF) in Halawa, Hawaii, June 28, 2024. About 25 gallons were removed from the tank. Charged with the safe decommissioning of the RHBFSF, NCTF-RH was established by the Department of the Navy as a commitment to the community and the environment.
