U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Kevin Christensen, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) life support investigator (LSI), looks through aircraft wreckage during a recovery mission in Papua New Guinea, August 23, 2024. LSI’s are responsible for identifying any life support equipment (LSE) on site. LSE is any life saving equipment which might’ve been on the aircraft, and if found, helps guide the scientific recovery expert’s excavation strategy.
