Jacklyn Griffis, Naval Research Enterprise Internship Program intern at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, measures the surface profile of a Nickel Aluminum Bronze wire-arc additive manufacturing build for residual stress characterization using a FARO laser scanner in West Bethesda, Md., July 9, 2024. Griffis is a second-year PhD student at Pennsylvania State University and is at Carderock as a second-year summer intern. Carderock fosters a fun, one-of-a-kind work atmosphere where brilliant minds can flourish and push the limits of the possible. Carderock also houses some of the nation's most advanced facilities for research, development, testing, and evaluation. These resources, spread across its headquarters and seven detachments, give the Navy a clear edge in creating the next generation of surface ships and submarines. (Navy Photo by Travis Troller)
