U.S. Army 18 series Soldiers bob while their wrists and ankles are restrained as part of the drown proofing event during the Maritime Assessment Course (MAC) on Camp “Bull” Simons, Florida, Sept. 19-20, 2024. Students who attended the two-week course were tested on a variety of skills including weight belt training, equipment recovery, dive supervision pre-inspection, and U.S. Navy drown proofing techniques of hand bound, travel, bobbing, mask retrieval, and floating. The MAC, formerly known as "pre-scuba," is a prerequisite course that physically and mentally prepares Soldiers for the rigors of the Combat Diver Qualification Course. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt.
