A U.S. Army 18 series Soldier waits for dive supervision pre-inspection during the Maritime Assessment Course (MAC) on Camp “Bull” Simons, Florida, Sept. 19-20, 2024. Students who attended the two-week course were tested on a variety of skills including weight belt training, equipment recovery, dive supervision pre-inspection, and U.S. Navy drown proofing techniques of hand bound, travel, bobbing, mask retrieval, and floating. The MAC, formerly known as "pre-scuba," is a prerequisite course that physically and mentally prepares Soldiers for the rigors of the Combat Diver Qualification Course. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt.
