Brian Corrigan, the lockmaster at Hannibal Locks and Dam, observes repair work conducted on removed miter gates aboard the Henry M. Shreve floating heavy crane in Hannibal, Ohio, Sept. 13, 2024. The crane can lift up to 550 tons, and was used to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District’s repair fleet to rebuild damaged steel and replace corroded material on the gates. The $16.6 million project involves removing and rebuilding four miter gates, replacing eight anchorages, and conducting full inspections and repairs for one of the busiest navigation facilities on the Ohio River.
