A squad of cadets from the Virginia Military Institute spent most of their day on October 7 receiving last minute training before prepping and packing their gear for Exercise Cambrian Patrol taking place October 3-14, 2024, in Wales. The extensive packing list called for over 50 necessary items to fill each ruck, plus any additional items the team might need. This squad from VMI is the first Army ROTC program to participate in Exercise Cambrian Patrol, considered NATO’s most challenging patrol test. This annual event gathers over 100 teams from across the United Kingdom and international militaries – each venturing out for a tactical patrol, pushing squads physically and mentally through difficult terrain and real-world scenarios. | U.S. Army photo by Sarah Windmueller
