Gil Sanborn, left, civilian aide to the Secretary of the Army, honors U.S. Army Reserve Staff Sgt. Wesley Gunn, center, supervisor with the U.S. Penitentiary at Atwater, California, and Army Reserve Sgt. Christian Miranda, assigned to Army Reserve 324th Military Police Battalion, in Fresno, California, during an Honoring our Heroes ceremony for San Francisco Fleet Week 2024 at Marina Green park in San Francisco Oct. 11, 2024. Gunn and Miranda responded to a vehicle rollover, resulting in various injuries for a family of four. Their efforts in controlling the scene and providing immediate medical care before emergency services arrived resulted in the survival of the family. SFFW, now in its 43rd iteration, is a time-honored sea service celebration that allows citizens of the Bay Area to witness today’s maritime capabilities firsthand. Nearly 2,500 Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen will showcase their capabilities and equipment, participate in various community service events, and enjoy the hospitality of the Bay Area during the event.
