Birmingham community partners America Legion Post 255, Letterman of the USA, and the 117th Air Refueling Wing met Oct. 19, 2024, at Sumpter Smith Joint National Guard Base, Ala., to present Trent (Kota) Thorne a new laptop through LotUSA’s Laptops for Heroes program. Kota was also given an autographed football from the University of Alabama, a 117 ARW unit patch, and tour of the air park at the Birmingham base after the organizations found out about the house fire where Kota and his family lost everything.
