U.S. Army Sergeant 1st Class Justin Desimone and Chef Franco Aloia, judges, taste the competitors' dishes during the 2024 Veterans Day Culinary Competition in Sandy, Utah, Nov. 9, 2024. The event was held with Soldiers of the Utah National Guard’s 1896th Quartermasters Platoon and students of the Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Culinary Institute; participants exercised their cooking capabilities in a challenging and fast paced environment; the competition built stronger relationships between the Utah National Guard and the SLCC Culinary Institute.
