U.S. Marine Corps enlistees out of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Phoenix rest after completing the crunches portion of the initial strength test during the R.S. Phoenix annual pool function in Gilbert, Ariz., March 2, 2013. The test, made up of pull-ups, crunches, and a one and a half mile run, is a requirement for the enlistees to ship to boot camp. More than 400 enlistees and their family and friends from across the state of Arizona participated in the daylong event, which provided all a better understanding of the undertaking they are preparing to take on in becoming a United States Marine. The enlistees are currently part of the delayed entry program and are awaiting their dates to ship to boot camp. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Tyler J. Bolken)
