U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Danielle N. Contreras, a drill instructor from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., instructs Marine Corps Recruiting Station Phoenix enlistees to keep their heads and eyes forward during the R.S. Phoenix annual pool function in Gilbert, Ariz., March 2, 2013. More than 400 Marine Corps enlistees and their family and friends from across the state of Arizona participated in the daylong event, which provided all a better understanding of the undertaking they are preparing to take on in becoming a United States Marine. Contreras, a native of Lincoln, Neb., emphasized to each of the enlistees that they always maintain disciplined mindsets. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Tyler J. Bolken)
