U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Robert D. Arroyo, a recruiter for Marine Corps Recruiting Station Phoenix, teaches R.S. Phoenix enlistees how to correctly eat a Meal Ready to Eat (MRE), during the R.S. Phoenix annual pool function in Gilbert, Ariz., March 2, 2013. For many of the enlistees it was their first encounter with an MRE, but will not be their last in becoming a Marine. Arroyo, a Phoenix native, said when it comes to making the most out of a little with an MRE, he considers himself a chef. More than 400 enlistees and their family and friends from across the state of Arizona participated in the daylong event, which provided all an opportunity to operate as a team, develop motivation, experience team competition and maximize parental involvement. The enlistees are currently part of the delayed entry program and are awaiting their dates to ship to boot camp. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Tyler J. Bolken)
