Mr. Tobin Rowland, Chief of the Insectary Core, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), shows members of the Community Advisory Board (CAB) the walk-in incubator room during a tour of the Insectary at WRAIR in Silver Spring, Maryland, December 6, 2024. The extremely humid walk-in incubator is used to rear the Anopheles stephensi mosquitoes that WRAIR’s Entomology Branch maintains in order to perform malaria research. The CAB toured WRAIR to learn more about WRAIR’s Clinical Trials Center, Insectary, and Pilot Bioproduction Facility. The CAB provides the community with direct input into WRAIR’s infectious disease research, and helps build relationships between WRAIR and local communities.
