Keri Skelly, who serves as a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service wildlife technician, conducts a quail survey on the grounds of Fort Bliss, Texas, September 4, 2024. U.S. Fish and Wildlife service biologists and experts often conduct surveys and data collection events across Fort Bliss for overall wildlife conversation efforts and in support of the Sikes Act. The Sikes Act is a United States law enacted in 1960 that requires cooperation between the Department of Defense and state agencies for the planning, development, and maintenance of fish and wildlife resources on military reservations across the country.
