Nuclear Disablement Team 4 chief Lt. Col. Gregory Isbill works with Maj. Jonas Braud and Maj. Angel Castellanos, to find spots of radioactivity at a site during Crater Crawl, as health physicist Capt. Michael Moser offers assistance. In this portion of the exercise, the teams used RADIAC instrumentation to determine if there was radioactive nuclear fallout in a certain area and then collected a ground sample to test. The teams wore proper levels of protection during all phases of the exercise and encountered different levels of radioactivity. Managed by Department of Energy, the Nevada National Security Site offered the NDTs a chance to work in an actual radioactive environment in order to study affects after a nuclear detonation.
