    Approximately 550 ‘Blackhawk Battalion’ Soldiers Mobilize for Overseas Mission

    Senior Illinois National Guard officials including the Adjutant General of Illinois Maj. Gen. Rodney Boyd, 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team Commander Col. Seth Hible, and 33rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team Command Sergeant Major Command Sgt. Maj. Micheal Filipiak stand for the benediction and final moments of the mobilization ceremony for B Company, 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment. B company will be sending approximately 130 soldiers to 17 locations in 7 different countries in support of Operation Spartan Shield. Approximately 130 Soldiers from Company B, 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment based in Effingham, Illinois, participated in a mobilization ceremony at Effingham Junior High School on Feb. 8. Company B Soldiers are mobilizing with approximately 550 other Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment to the Middle East. The deploying units are based in Marion, West Frankfort, Litchfield, Mount Vernon, and Effingham. B Company is led by Company Commander Capt. Andrew Klein and 1st Sgt. Evan Stoltz. The unit's primary mission will be securing and protecting U.S. and allied forces in the Middle East. The mission will also include training with many of our regional allies.
