Mitchell Vanderstoep, an air traffic control navigational aids technician with Marine Air Control Squadron 4, Marine Air Control Group 18, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, installs a PRC-117F radio into an airfield mobile Tactical Air Navigation (TACAN) system at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Feb. 6, 2025. Marines with MACS-4 and Marine Wing Communications Squadron 18, both with MACG-18, 1st MAW, employed a range of communications equipment to practice their ability to ensure rapid and effective support for air traffic operations, aircraft navigation, and airfield coordination in a dynamic, real-world environment.
