Alaska Air National Guard Tech. Sgt. Mike Gesford, left, and Staff Sgt. Riley Reloza, right, both loadmasters assigned to the 211th Rescue Squadron, supervise documentary filmmakers as they film from the ramp of an HC-130J Combat King II during flight operations over the Harding Icefield, Alaska, Feb. 11, 2025. In April 2024, the same filmmakers attempted to traverse the Harding Icefield but were stranded by inclement weather. The filmmakers used a satellite communicator to send a distress signal and were ultimately rescued after a joint effort by the National Park Service, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Alaska Rescue Coordination Center, and the Alaska Air National Guard. The filmmakers returned to JBER to make a documentary about their rescue. (Alaska National Guard photo by Alejandro Peña)
