Alaska Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Riley Reloza, a loadmaster assigned to the 211th Rescue Squadron, surveys the flightline from the ramp of his HC-130J Combat King II after completing flight operations at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Feb. 11, 2025. The 211th RQS conducted a flight over the Kenai Fjords National Park to provide visiting documentary filmmakers an aerial perspective of the Harding Icefield. In April 2024, the same filmmakers attempted to traverse the Harding Icefield but were stranded by inclement weather. The filmmakers used a satellite communicator to send a distress signal and were ultimately rescued after a joint effort by the National Park Service, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Alaska Rescue Coordination Center, and the Alaska Air National Guard. The filmmakers returned to JBER to make a documentary about their rescue. (Alaska National Guard photo by Alejandro Peña)
