In June 2024, Peacekeeping Operations funded Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) members conducted training with the Ivorian Peacekeeping battalion in advance of their deployment with United Nationals Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA). This 12-week training period prepared troops to respond to situations of security, human rights and political crises found throughout the region. U.S. Africa Command is one of seven U.S. Department of Defense geographic combatant commands. The command is responsible for all U.S. military operations, exercises, and security cooperation, and conducts crisis response on the African continent to advance U.S. interests and promote regional security, stability, and prosperity.
