GREAT LAKES, Illinois (March 6, 2025) Sailors from Naval Station Great Lakes and tenant commands practice weapons familiarization with the M18 handgun during an Auxiliary Security Force (ASF) Academy. The ASF academy is a three week course that trains active duty service members to augment base security personnel during various contingencies, terrorist attacks, natural disasters, civil disturbances, exercises, and special events requiring heightened security.
