Lisa Franchetti takes a quick "selfie" with the Naval History and Heritage Command Director Samuel J. Cox, U.S. Navy rear admiral (retired) before proceeding to the Navy Department Library's 225th Anniversary celebration. From humble beginnings in 1800 with only approximately 200 volumes in the Navy Library collection, the library now consists of 114,000 book titles, 374,000 manuscripts, and 189,000 periodicals, emphasizing naval, nautical, and military history, including foreign navies.
