Sergeant Michael L. Kufchak instructs recruits at the rifle range here while serving as a primary marksmanship instructor with Weapons and Field Training Battalion in 1989. Since 1985, Kufchak has lived in Southern California and belonged to several infantry units in the 1st Marine Division before becoming the division sergeant major in April 2011. Kufchak currently resides in Corona, Calif.
