    PORTLAND, Maine (April 5, 2025) – Captain Roy Springer, retired, was the oldest qualified submariner in attendance at the at the 125th Submarine Birthday Ball, held in Portland, Maine, April 5. Springer, a previous commanding officer of the research submarine USS Albacore (AGSS 569), earned his dolphins on July 18, 1953. The event was hosted by Commander, Submarine Squadron Two and attended by crew members of submarines assigned to COMSUBRON2, submariners past and present and their guests.
