PORTLAND, Maine (April 5, 2025) – Rear Adm. Mark Behning, director, Undersea Warfare Division, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, pins the spare set of dolphins belonging to the late Lt. Cmdr. John Wesley Harvey, commanding officer USS Thresher (SSN 593) when it was lost at sea April 10, 1963, on Ens. Michael Owens during the 125th Submarine Birthday Ball, held in Portland, Maine, April 5. Harvey’s spare set of Dolphins are presented at a different Submarine Birthday Ball every year. The event was hosted by Commander, Submarine Squadron Two and attended by crew members of submarines assigned to COMSUBRON2, submariners past and present and their guests.
