Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Griffith, from Idaho Falls, Idaho, and ordnance maintenance chief, Combat Logistics Battalion 26, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), opens mail bags aboard the USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) after a resupply at sea from the USNS Kanawha April 4, 2013. The MEU is currently deployed to the 6th Fleet area of operation. The MEU operates continuously across the globe, providing the president and unified combatant commanders with a forward-deployed, sea-based quick reaction force.
