Lance Cpl. Jorge Roqueterrero, a heavy equipment operator assigned to Engineer Company, Marine Wing Support Squadron 272, Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., observes a Marine using an excavator to clear and shape the side of a mountain during the construction of a drainage ditch designed to clear water from a newly improved border road, near Nogales, Ariz., Mar. 18. The Marines widened the road and improved it by laying and compacting more than 3,000 tons of aggregate. The improved road will reduce U.S. Border Patrol agents' response times in the known illicit drug trafficking and illegal alien smuggling area.
