USS Dextrous (MCM 13) Commanding Officer, Lt. Cmdr. Jeffery A. Bennett II, left, of Bay View, Mich., commands Dextrous from the bridge of the ship, as a Sailor gets a closer look at a passing ship with binoculars. The ship, one of four mine warfare ships forward deployed in the U.S. Naval Central Command area of responsibility, employs mine hunting, sweeping and neutralization capabilities in support of maritime security operations (MSO). MSO set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. MSO deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons, or other material. Dextrous began Sea Trials July 17, following a four-month maintenance period in dry dock.
