North Carolina National Guard Army Spc. Erik Van Dyne (left) connects the generator power cord as Spc. Megan Blue holds up the closure flap during the 295th Signal Network Support Company's preparation for annual training April 13. Van Dyne and Blue manned the Joint Network Node during the training, making sure the Internet and phones received connection. Van Dyne entered the military about three years ago without any computer knowledge and was told to enter this military occupation based on his entrance test scores. He said the training he received helped get an information technician position on the civilian side, plus he was one of the subject-matter experts on site during this training.
