Sgt. Maj. Troy E. Black, incoming 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit sergeant major, accepts the noncommissioned officers sword during a relief and appointment ceremony May 16, at the 21 Area parade deck on Camp Pendleton, Calif. Sgt. Maj. Scott T. Pile, the outgoing sergeant major of the 11th MEU, welcomed Black to his new post. Pile joined the 11th MEU in May 2010 and will assume the duties as sergeant major of Training and Education Command, Quantico, Va. Black is transitioning from Combat Logistics Battalion 5, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
